Vice-Admiral of the black sea fleet of Russia has accused of inciting the Ukrainians

The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine has accused Vice-Admiral of the black sea fleet of the Navy of Russia (the black sea fleet of the Navy) at the instigation of Ukrainian military personnel to treason in 2014. About it reports a press-service of office of public Prosecutor of Ukraine on his page in Facebook.

It clarifies that he was suspected of aiding and abetting the waging of “aggressive war against Ukraine”. During a pretrial investigation militiamen found out that the Vice-Admiral of the Ukrainian military incited to treason.

According to the investigation, the event took place in March 2014 in Sevastopol. The Prosecutor’s office believes that the Vice-Admiral, under the threat of violence by Russian soldiers persuaded the Ukrainians to “transition to the enemy in time of armed conflict.”

A criminal case was opened under part 4 of article 27 (“Incitement”) and part 1 of article 111 (“high treason”) Criminal code of Ukraine. Name of Vice-Admiral in the Department is not called.

In 2016, the Pechersky district court of Kiev allowed to judge in absentia the head of the black sea fleet of the Russian Navy Vice-Admiral Alexander Vitko, who is accused of committing heinous crimes to Ukraine.

Crimea was annexed to Russia after held on the Peninsula in March 2014 a referendum in which a majority of voters the people of the region supported this decision. Ukraine, as well as the vast majority of countries-members of the UN, does not recognize Russian sovereignty over the Peninsula and considers it the temporarily occupied territory. Moscow denies the charges.
