May 26, Cooper was placed on administrative leave during the investigation. However, the evening of the same day the company officially announced the decision to fire her. “We do not tolerate any racism in Franklin Templeton”, — said in a statement.

This decision was taken in connection with the leaked video featuring Cooper, which is widely dispersed across the network and was the occasion for numerous publications in the American press. The footage captured the incident on may 25 in Central Park, when a black man Christian Cooper (Christian Cooper), the namesake of the women walked through the Park and watched the birds. He noticed a loose dog and went to the owner of the animal, which turned out to be Amy Cooper, with a request to take the dog on a leash, as provided by the rules of the Park. However, the woman refused, and Cooper began shooting the events on video. In response, the woman began demanded him to stop filming and threatened with denunciation to the police. “I’ll tell them that black is threatening my life,” shouted Cooper.

After the incident, the woman apologized, stressing that he regretted the incident. “I sincerely and humbly apologize to all, especially in front of this man, his family. This was unacceptable, and I humbly and fully apologize to everyone who saw this video to everyone who was offended,” she said in an interview with NBC New York.

In an interview with New York Daily News Christian Cooper admitted that he was not sure his feelings on the dismissal of the woman. “I don’t see how it solves the problem. I think it’s important to go beyond this case and this man. Too much attention was paid to it, when we are talking about the main problems that plagued this city and this country for centuries. Racial issues,” he said. Cooper added that he is very upset because of the death threats sent to the women: “It’s terrible”.
