Autonomous underwater vehicle “Vityaz-D” is unique, and indeed boasts of it, writes Defence24.
The Polish newspaper notes that the descent of the “Vityaz-D” at the bottom of the Mariana trench the country to celebrate Victory Day, and apparatuses of this kind at present, besides Russia, includes only Japan (talking about the drone Automatic Bottom Inspection and Sampling Mobile).
Defence24 notes outstanding technical characteristics of the “Vityaz-D”, allowing the drone to dive to a depth of 10 kilometres, but noted that this unit could be created using not only Russian, but also borrowed Western technology. The publication stresses that the success of the drone can be explained by the interest in both military and civil, since this apparatus can be used for the purposes of mineral exploration on the seabed.

Then — in the future — to use the structural features of the bottom of the Mariana trench for military purposes”, — said the President of Academy of geopolitical problems about the purpose of the descent of the “Vityaz-D”.
