Russian vessel “Akademik Chersky”, able to build the gas pipeline Nord stream-2, came from the German port of Mukran and anchored five miles from it, according to data portals for tracking of marine traffic Vesselfinder and marinetraffic.
The Mukran is the basis for work on the project. Pipelay was in it the last two weeks. Satellite photos showed that at that time the pipe for laying of the pipeline drove on the pier with a crane.
The Russian authorities and “Gazprom” officially do not confirm, nor deny that the “academic plan” will complete the project, although previously he has repeatedly called the most likely option.
The ship left the port of Nakhodka in mid-February, and then repeatedly changed course, has set an incorrect endpoint of the route, while not included in the end in the Baltic sea.
Earlier, US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell said that Washington is preparing new sanctions against the “Nord stream-2”. According to him, the project was approved by both parties. The main objective of the document will be the inability to supply gas via this route, even if Russia will be able to finish it.
The head of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev pointed out that such comments indicate a change in the US relationship to the project, because before they did not believe in the possibility of Gazprom to conclude its own. Russia plans to launch the “Nord stream-2” in operation at the end of this year or early next.
