The developers are considering the possibility to use heavy drones to control the Russian border in the Arctic and Far Eastern seas. About this idea said the head of the border service of FSB Vladimir Kulishov in an interview with TASS.
According to him, unmanned systems medium and heavy classes will be needed in the medium term for the implementation of border activities in remote areas of the state. Such devices are able to transmit data over long distances and less dependent on weather conditions.
Kuleshov noted that currently the industry decide if they can make a helicopter-type drones that can land and take off on the coast and border patrol ships with aviation-technical complex.
The head of the border service added that domestic drones and aerostat surveillance systems have been used for the protection of Russian borders. In 2019, the border guards received a new tool multicoverage type, which may hang at a given point and uses at night. At the same time the service was provided to ten devices and systems for the protection of the state borders, including in the far North. Among them portable imaging devices, coastal radar and TV-optical system.
