State Duma Deputy Konstantin Bakharev has responded to the Council’s former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst, Ukraine not to supply water to Crimea. His words RIA Novosti reported.
Bakharev called the statement of the us Ambassador outrageous cynicism. According to him, the imposition of the Kiev recommendations proves the lack of respect from the United States. The MP also expressed the view that the Ambassador binds water blockade with the possibility of returning Crimea to the Ukraine.
Previously, Herbst stated that would recommend Kiev to maintain its policy in relation to the supply of the Crimea. In his opinion, this would “maintain the high price of the Peninsula to the Kremlin.”
5 March-Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal made for the resumption of water supply to Crimea, explaining that on the Peninsula there live Ukrainians. He then explained that the water is not possible because of the “occupation of the Peninsula”. However, speaking in the Verkhovna Rada on March 6, Shmigal said that Ukraine will supply water to Crimea, but only for drinking and household needs of the residents.
Problems with water began in the Crimea after joining Russia in 2014, as Ukraine has stopped supplying in the North-Crimean channel.
