Mass refusal of Russians from foreign travel because of the pandemic coronavirus and closing borders may be on hand in the Russian economy. About it writes Bloomberg.
Traditionally the Russians are spending while on holiday abroad much more than foreigners are spending in Russia. Thus, the annual expenses of Russians on holiday in Turkey, Finland and Thailand exceed the costs of foreigners on Russian territory at $ 20 billion, reported the economist of “Renaissance Capital” Sophia Donets.
However, in 2020 the pandemic at the end of the year most of the tourists stay home, the foreign expenditure of the country’s residents will fall at least 50 percent, she said. It is expected that the Russians will spend more on their country. Donets called it one of the factors which will support the ruble and will result in advantage to the national economy.
Earlier, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin urged Russians to vacation in Russia and not go abroad. He noted that although other countries are starting to refuse to quarantine the infection in the world finally could not be overcome, and “for a few days of rest you can pay too high a price”.
