The Maltese government seized a shipment of counterfeit Libyan currency worth $ 1.1 billion, according to the website of the US state Department.
The foreign Ministry claims that the fake dinars were printed by “Goznak” is a Russian enterprise which directly belongs to the government and is engaged in the production of banknotes, coins and passports. The customer, according to the US, made a kind of illegitimate organization, not the Central Bank of Libya.
The state Department also accused Russia of exacerbating the economic problems of Libya. “This incident again stresses the need that Russia will stop its harmful and destabilizing actions in Libya”, — added in Department.
The United States consider Russia one of the parties to the Libyan conflict. According to Washington, Moscow has supported the Libyan national army field Marshal Khalifa the Haftarot, sending military equipment. Army of Haftarot controls most of Libya and are opposed to the forces of the national consensus government recognised the UN.
