The President of the United States has estimated the probability of the launch of the Falcon 9 rocket with the spacecraft Crew Dragon Elon musk to the International space station (ISS). He stated before heading to Florida for observation of the start, reports TASS.
He confirmed that the chance of the Crew Dragon launch SpaceX is equal to 50 percent. According to the American leader, the start can postpone to Wednesday, June 3 due to bad weather. “I think I shall be there [at the launch site in Florida], this is a very exciting [time], despite the fact that the chances are about 50 on 50”, — said the head of state.
The launch was scheduled for 15:22 East coast time USA (22:22 Moscow time) may 30. To date, NASA astronauts Douglas Hurley and Robert Behnken already boarded the ship.
The previous attempt to launch Crew to the ISS Dragon scheduled for 27 may was cancelled shortly before the start due to adverse weather conditions.
The main goal of the mission is called Crew Dragon test vehicle systems and crew readiness to work with him. Successful completion of the mission the spacecraft will mean the loss of “Roscosmos” monopoly in delivering people to the ISS that existed from July 2011, when NASA made a last flight under program Space Shuttle. All in all, since 2006, Roskosmos has received from NASA for the delivery of astronauts to the ISS more than $ 4 billion.
