The US withdrawal from the Treaty on open skies and the possible non-renewal of the Contract on reduction of strategic offensive arms (start-3) harm to international security. Thus the actions of the country was estimated by the Deputy Chairman of the Russian security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, in “Vkontakte”.
“The White house’s position in respect of these documents leads to the destruction of the international security architecture and will have serious consequences,” Medvedev wrote. Publication he shared following the meeting of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin with the permanent members of the security Council.
The US expressed the desire to withdraw from the Treaty on open skies on may 21. The White house explained that the intention of the violations from Moscow — supposedly Russia during flights over the United States followed the whereabouts of the American President. Moscow rejects Washington’s accusation.
According to Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Dmitry Ryabkov, such statements evoke laughter and are just chaotic and illogical attempts of the American authorities to explain the withdrawal from the Treaty.
The contract between 23 member States of the OSCE in 1992, gives the possibility to participating countries to make the inspection circled each other, observing military activities and compliance with existing treaties in the field of arms control.
With regard to the start-3, the US is not in a hurry to renew it, citing the reluctance of China to participate in the negotiations. Ryabkov said that the White house will allow the contract to expire. Washington intends to use Moscow to involve in the dialogue in Beijing, said the diplomat.
