In the Baltic sea launched the international exercise Baltops, which was attended by representatives of the 19 NATO countries. It is reported ERR.
The training will last from 7 to 16 June. They will be joined by three thousand troops, 29 ships and 29 aircraft of the Alliance.
This year is exclusively part of the Maritime maneuvers to reduce the number of contacts between military personnel in a pandemic coronavirus.
Earlier it was reported that Russia and NATO are unable to agree on military restraint at the time of the pandemic coronavirus. The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov has sent a letter to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in which he proposed to put on pause a military operation. But there responded that the activity of the Alliance is defensive in nature, and its gain is related to the Russian threat.
Baltops is an annual multinational exercise, regularly since 1972. Their goal is to increase the flexibility of the participating countries in conducting joint ground, air and naval operations in the Baltic sea region.
