In Central Russia every year in winter will be less snow in the North country more and more. Such a prediction was made scientific Director of the hydrometeorological Roman Vilfand, RIA Novosti reported.
According to him, since the early 1980-ies, a noticeable trend in the shift of the boundary of snow to the North. At the same time for those 40 years in the Northern hemisphere the total mass of snow has not changed. “So, the snow will be more and more in the Northern regions, and in temperate latitudes — less,” — said the forecaster.
He noted that this year the winter was snowy and similar to the European.
Earlier, head of the laboratory of climatology Institute of geography Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director of the Institute of atmospheric physics of the earth RAS named Vladimir Semenov said that winters in Central Russia will be warm and without snow in about 30 years. The strongest warming will manifest themselves in Siberia, the least — in the South of the country.
