In Russia opened the way to the burning of aluminium in water without any chemical additives. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to scientists of the joint Institute for high temperatures (joint Institute for high temperatures Russian Academy of Sciences), the new method allows to obtain heat, which can be used for more efficient power plants than the traditional petrol and diesel engines.
The researchers heated inch aluminum granules to temperatures from 250 to 400 degrees Celsius in water vapor and found that under such conditions, the aluminium burns at a speed of about 1 centimeter per hour. The output is a gaseous high purity hydrogen, solid oxide, aluminum, and stands out of the heat.
“Modern vehicles are made of metal and consumes hydrocarbons as fuel. Environmentally friendly transportation can be arranged exactly the opposite: the hydrocarbons will be used as construction material and as fuel will be used metals,” — said in the joint Institute for high temperatures.
