Strategic bomber B-52H Stratofortress air force (IAF) of the United States during a joint test in the air lost a prototype hypersonic missile created in the framework of Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept (HAWC), according to Aviation Week.
It is known that during the joint flight the rocket is accidentally separated from the aircraft, and then was destroyed. According to the journal, the incident occurred with the bomber, assigned to 419 flight test squadron at Edwards AFB, the U.S. air force in California. The incident reasons are investigated.

In may 2019, the American company Lockheed Martin has introduced the concept of fifth generation fighter F-35C Lightning II with a pair of hypersonic cruise missiles, created in the framework of the HAWC.
