The U.S. government encouraged China to take part in the talks on arms control with Russia and America, which will be held in Vienna. The corresponding message was published on his Twitter account, the special representative of the President of the United States arms control Marshall Billingsley.
Billings urged China to reconsider its decision to abandon negotiations in this format, as “the achievement of great power status indicates the behavior of the responsibility inherent in great power”. According to him, China should stop to build a “Great wall of secrecy” around their nuclear facilities. He noted that China is waiting in the negotiations in Vienna.
Earlier, Russian Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the agreement with the United States in the field of arms control and strategic stability will be achieved only taking into account the interests of Russia. He added that Washington repeatedly violated international agreements, therefore, Moscow will also need a transparent mechanism of validation.
8 June, the US confirmed the talks with Russia on strategic stability, though the exact date and venue is not mentioned.
