Coronavirus is less aggressive, resulting in the fall of the second wave may not be. This was stated by RIA Novosti, the Italian virologist, Vice-rector of the University of Milan Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Massimo Clementi (Massimo Clementi).
“In may our doctors noted a progressive decline in the severity of the disease, which hospitalized infected with coronavirus patients. It was not only about reducing the number of cases, but the reduction in the number of patients who required treatment in the ICU, in particular, in connection with pneumonia. At the same time increased the number of infected, which can be treated at home,” — said the virologist.
Clementi and the staff he headed the laboratory of Microbiology and Virology of the hospital San Raffaele conducted a study to find justification for changes. It turned out that the viral load in the initial stage of the epidemic was ten times higher than at the end of may. The infection began to leak easier — the number of particles in a certain volume of biological fluid of patients decreased.
According to the Professor, the improvement of the clinical picture presumably means that the coronavirus is evolving in the direction of weakening. “Until we can say this with full confidence, but most likely it is true”, — he stressed.
However, earlier Japanese counterpart Akihiro Sato expressed a different assumption. According to him, the probability of a second wave of coronavirus is 90 percent.
