The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky want to return to the discussion of the Crimean issue, which in recent years has faded into the background. The head of state said on his Twitter page.
“The years were only a question of ending the war in the Donbass. However, the war, which it is, began with the Crimea”, — he wrote.
For the return of the Crimea issue on the agenda Zelensky expressed during a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan Löfven. According to the President, that supported this proposition.
June 10, Zelensky said that the Russians will feel a sense of shame for the fact that in 2014 Russia annexed the Crimea. According to him, without a return Peninsula in the Ukraine, future generations of citizens of both countries can’t “is fine, frankly, as a friend, communicate.”
The Peninsula became part of Russia in 2014 after a referendum in which the majority of residents supported this decision. In the same year, the United States, European Union and some other countries have introduced sanctions against Russia due to the annexation of the Peninsula. Kiev considers the territory annexed and accuses Moscow of violating the rights of the Crimean Tatars. Russian authorities deny these accusations.
