Japan is going to refuse to place on its territory a missile defence (ABM) of the USA. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of defence of the country Taro Kono, reports RIA Novosti.
“We intend to stop the process of placing the [ground-based missile defense systems] in connection with their cost and time deployment”, — quotes Agency the words of the Minister, citing local media.
The reasons for the rejection of these plans and technical — economic. Missiles have a high cost, and the Japanese budget is experiencing a period of deficit.
In addition, the Japanese military doubt that starting the engine, separated at start-up, guaranteed not to cause damage when falling. Due to the lack of such guarantees software complexes needs modification.
The head of the Ministry stressed that the complexes are placed on the Aegis destroyers of the Maritime forces of Japan and will remain on them.
