Belarus was again detained opponents of President Alexander Lukashenko — a member of the initiative group on collection of signatures of the candidate on a post of the head of state Victor Babariko and press-Secretary of the initiative group of presidential contenders Svetlana Tikhanovski. Svetlana kupreeva from group Babariko arrested at his home on Thursday, June 11. Her apartment was searched. The woman was taken away by the employees of the financial investigations Department. Now she is in jail of the state security Committee (KGB). Counsel to Kupreeva not allowed under the pretext of coronavirus.
At the headquarters of Babariko said that the woman never worked in the “Belgazprombank” in respect of whom the investigation is being conducted, but is “the coordinator of one of the districts of Minsk” in the initiative group of presidential candidate.
Meanwhile in Brest detained Alexander Kabanov — the press-Secretary of the initiative group Tikhanovski — after a visit to the clinic, where he was summoned by telephone, writes “Interfax”. The man was not involved in any actions, as he was in the hospital because of the coronavirus, then isolation.
According to the initiative group Tikhanovski, Kabanov is in the temporary detention center of the Leninski district police Department of Brest. The reasons for the detention are unknown.
Presidential elections held in Belarus on 9 August. The acting head of state Alexander Lukashenko intends to run for a sixth term and is already collecting signatures for registration. About collecting the necessary number of signatures also said his rivals — former head of the Board of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko, former head of the high-tech Park Valery Tsepkalo, a former member of the house of representatives Anna Konopacka.
