Ukrainian politician Oleksandr Turchynov, who in 2014, after the overthrow of President Viktor Yanukovych, the acting head of state, called on the authorities to succeed in a “creeping offensive” in the Donbass. He told about it in interview to the 5th channel, the video is available on YouTube.

He explained that Ukraine cannot conduct large-scale military operation and go into a frontal attack on the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics (DPR and LPR), because of the need to have an advantage.

“We can’t evaluate the strength of the enemy, because they are, unfortunately, limitless. What is now in the Donbas are in fact such “cannon fodder”. Their task is to survive the day in the case of a powerful attack to give the opportunity to introduce the main forces and means of the Russian regular army (Kiev accuses Moscow of involvement in the conflict in the Donbass, Russia denies it — approx. “Of the”), “—said Turchinov.

The politician added that the step-by-step strategy of the offensive was justified in 2016-2017.

“Every day one meter. So in 2016-2017 we are advanced enough, we freed a lot of communities, we have improved the configuration of our front, we strengthened our positions. It is necessary to continue. Every day on the meter and not to Rostov, but the border would come in,” he concluded.

The armed conflict in the Donbas continues for more than six years. In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities began a military operation against DND and LNR, which declared independence from Kiev after a violent change of the Central government. Ukraine accuses Russia of occupation of part of the Donbass and the support of separatism. Moscow rejects claims of Kiev.
