Victor Babakoto: @viktar_babaryka
The opponents of the head of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the upcoming presidential election Victor Babariko accused the government that their actions lead to the loss of the country’s sovereignty. He stated this in an interview with Forbes.
Babariko said that over the years of Lukashenka’s rule, Belarus has not become economically independent country, as it requires a 3-5 billion dollar investment.
Now, according to him, Russia requires further integration to continue investments in the Belarusian economy. “Now there is no choice: either the food riots and the collapse of the economy or subsidies in exchange for loss of independence. Our domestic economic helplessness led the country to the threat of loss of sovereignty,” said Babariko.
Earlier, Babariko denied that before the nomination for President held consultations with Russian officials. According to him, these data are the rumors: “No consultation with the authorities on the subject of elections, I had neither in Belarus nor in Russia, nor in any other country”.
