The need for direct dialogue with the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk national republics (DND and LNR) is the main obstacle to progress in the negotiation process on the conflict settlement in the Donbass. About it on air of radio “NV” said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba.
“The main stumbling block that hinders progress is the problem of direct dialogue. The Russians categorically insist that we should talk only with representatives of the so-called DNR and LNR, and Ukraine categorically insists that it will talk only with the Russian Federation”, — he said and added that the talks in any case you should continue because it is impossible to prevent freezing of the situation.
Kuleba called “red lines” of the Ukrainian negotiators — to establish control over the border with Russia, the holding of elections in areas outside the control only after the withdrawal of forces and means of Donbass, reintegration “of Russia”.
The Minister stressed that Ukraine is ready for a “diplomatic offensive” and “impose” its agenda.
Earlier Kuleba said that the Minsk agreements on settling the situation in Eastern Ukraine is not dead but kept on one ventilator. He added that residents DND and LNR after returning to the Ukraine will be “a thousand times” more rights than they have now.
