A significant part of the police of American city of Atlanta came out to work on 17 June in protest against the trial of their colleague, garret Rolfe, shot and killed a black of Rashard Brooks. About it reports CNN TV channel.
Of the six areas for which the responsible police Department of Atlanta, in three there was a shortage of polizeilich: law enforcement officers came to the challenges, but managers reported that the patrols are not enough. From a number of sources that in large parts of the city on the police radio frequencies were silent, which is extremely unusual for the work of the police in the evening hours.
The mayor keisha lance bottoms appealed to the police in public: she asked them to return to service and was promised a raise and urged to maintain the care of urban communities.
On 17 June it became known that the police officer Garrett, Rolf, dismissed from the police after he shot and killed a black man, is accused of 11 criminal charges and he could face life imprisonment or even the death penalty.
Rashard Brooks was sleeping in his car drunk in the Parking lot of the restaurant food, for which he was arrested. When arrested, he began to resist and fight with police officers. During the fight he grabbed a COP’s Taser and running away, fired it at the officers. Officer Rolf opened fire and twice hit the back of Brooks. He died in the hospital.
Due to his death in the city occurred a new outbreak of protests. The head of the local police resigned, and Rolf was on the same day dismissed from the police. The mayor bottoms announced reform of the police.
From the end of may in dozens of U.S. cities held mass protests accompanied by riots and clashes with police over the death of an African-American George Floyd. In some States, they turned into riots, pogroms, looting, shooting and arson. The protesters are blaming the police and racist prejudices in society.
