In 2019 a nuclear power plant for the first time lost the “green” power plants, including wind power generators and solar batteries, total power generation. This is evidenced by the report of the BP Statistical Review.
The amount of energy produced has increased in both cases, but from clean sources (with the exception of water) by 13 percent, to 2.8 petawatt-hour, while nuclear power plants by 3.5 percent, to 2,796 petawatt-hour.
The share of renewable energy sources (RES) and nuclear power plants in the total generation made up only 10.4 percent. In General, the growth of electricity consumption for the year was 1.3 percent, of which the largest contribution was 41 per cent — made renewable energy. Along with the gas they are responsible for three quarters of the increase.
The largest share of electricity generation remains coal — 36.4 percent, but this at least since 1985. The report says that against this background, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions seems low.
Earlier the General Director of UC Rusal Evgeny Nikitin proposed the inclusion of the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, Bratsk and Irkutsk in the gasification program of Gazprom for the Federal account. Otherwise, he said, to reduce the region’s dependence on coal and, therefore, solve its environmental problems will not work.
