Canadian scientists have discovered that when infected with coronavirus may develop unusual redness of the eyes as one of the symptoms COVID-19. About the first was the case of viral keratoconjunctivitis is reported in the journal of the Canadian ophthalmological society.
Doctors report that the unknown symptom has been detected in 29-year-old hospitalized patient. Her right eye was reddened, observed watery discharge and photophobia. Before returning to Canada February 29, she spent a month in the Philippines and one day in San Francisco. The first of March she developed runny nose, cough and conjunctivitis. The woman complained of fever, although he admitted that he took antipyretic drugs, which could mask the small increase in temperature.
After a few days the symptoms worsened and the patient was sent to ophthalmology clinic. A swab of the discharge from the eye were positive for the presence of SARS-CoV-2. As the authors write, the case proves that there should be additional measures to identify unusual symptoms, to prevent the spread COVID-19.
