Radio “Echo of Moscow” was fined by the decision of the world court in Moscow for the dissemination of deliberately false information. It is reported TASS with reference to the decision of the court of 5 and 15 June.
On 5 June the station was found guilty under part 9 of article 13.15 of the administrative code (“Dissemination in the media and in information-telecommunication networks knowingly false public interest information under the guise of reliable reports create a risk of harm to the life and (or) to health of citizens”) and was fined 200 thousand rubles.
June 15, “Echo of Moscow” has received a fine of 60 thousand rubles for the same violation. In both cases the radio was prosecuted for news about the coronavirus. Glavred “Echo” Alexei Venediktov in his Telegram channel confirmed the information about the fines and stated that in the first case punished was the mass media itself, and the second — editor in chief Vitaly Xena. The reason was quoting the speech of the analyst Valery Solovey. Venediktov said that the punishment will be appealed.
Earlier in June the Presnensky investigatory Department has started investigation against Yulia Latynina. Law enforcement agencies interested in the journalist of the unavailability of some regions of Russia to combat the coronavirus, which she said on the air of “Echo of Moscow”. Later, the radio host admitted that sounded fake information, and apologized for it.
