Testing of Autonomous underwater vehicle “Vityaz-D” confirmed the technological independence of Russia in the ability to work in all level depths, reported RIA Novosti Deputy head of physico-technical research of the advanced research Foundation, candidate of military Sciences Viktor Litvinenko.
According to him, “Vityaz-D” capable of withstanding pressures characteristic of the near-bottom depths of 13 kilometres, on which the device is able to patrol at distances up to 100 kilometers. The basis of the power plant of the UAV is an electric engine can be charged from an ordinary network. “Can sink to any depth at any point of the World ocean”, — said the expert.
“Scientists will be able to study in detail the geophysical parameters of the inaccessible depths of the oceans, the cut of the bottom shelf, the state and the movement of tectonic plates, currents, salinity and other necessary data, to investigate living organisms extreme depths,” — said Litvinenko.
