Ukrainian military expert Mikhail Zhirokhov in an interview with newspaper “Business capital” has admitted that new winged antiship missile P-360 Neptun can get up to Russian ships in Novorossiysk.
According to him, the emergence of such missiles supposedly opens up the Ukrainian “war machine” ability to engage targets around the Crimea and on the Azov sea coast — Russian ships in the port of Novorossiysk. He also expressed the opinion that the homing head of the Ukrainian missile might have a greater noise immunity and better features than its Russian counterpart, the X-35.
However, the expert noted that Ukraine’s financial condition can cause problems at the stage of serial production of “Neptune”. According to him, the only plant solid-fuel complex in the country have stopped their work.
However Zhirokhov believes that the emergence of armed with such complexes will allow the Ukrainian military-political leadership to conduct a much more aggressive policy in the Black and Azov seas.
Earlier, the Ukrainian anti-ship cruise missile R-complex 360 LCD 360МЦ “Neptune” for the first time has passed flight tests with the standard warhead, which was successfully destroyed the specified target. For the tests of the complex was monitored by the Russian side.
The R-complex 360 RC-360МЦ “Neptune” has a warhead weighing 150 pounds, with a launch range up to 280 kilometers and a speed of about 900 kilometers per hour. The altitude of the rocket flight — from three to ten metres above the sea level.
