Russia refused the radar “Balkhash” in Kazakhstan

The Russian government refused to use the radar station (radar) “Balkhash” system of missile warning. This decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail mishustina published on the official website of legal information.

“To approve the proposal for the denunciation of the agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the conditions of transfer and further use of the Kazakh host “Balkhash” in the Russian System of missile warning, signed in Moscow on December 2, 2014,” the document reads.

In accordance with the document, the use of the Ministry of defense of Russia transferred part of the host “Balkhash” radar “Dnepr”, engineering systems, points of contact and other infrastructure of the complex. As a replacement for radar Russia has put into operation a new station “Voronezh-M” under Orsk.

The agreement was concluded for a period of five years with automatic extension for three years if neither party notifies its intention to stop its action at least six months before the expiry of the document. The bill on the denunciation of this agreement shall be submitted to the Duma.
