Foreigners are banned to come to Mecca for Hajj

“The number of pilgrims this year will be very limited and may not exceed ten thousand. It will only be internal Hajj, we will not make exceptions for pilgrims from abroad”, — he said. Saleh said that usually during a pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina attends at least 2.5 million people.

The Minister added that this year the event will involve only those foreigners-the Muslims who are already in Saudi Arabia. Pilgrims from abroad are banned entry to the city.

According to him, all visitors will be selected together with the foreign diplomatic missions: they pass the tests for the presence of coronavirus infection, and after the Hajj, Muslims will have to sit in quarantine. For their health will ponablyudat doctors.

On 27 February the government of Saudi Arabia has also decided to temporarily close entry to Mecca and Medina to Muslim pilgrims because of the epidemic of the coronavirus. The entrance to the Kingdom with the purpose of Umrah (the small pilgrimage — approx. “Of the”) was suspended.

The country ranks first among Arab countries in the number of infections with coronavirus. There are already 161 thousand cases are reported, 1.3 thousand people died and 105 thousand — cured.
