The President of the United States Donald trump announced in Twitter about the arrests and punishments for the desecration of any monuments belonging to the state.
He said that gave the forces of the Federal government the right to arrest anyone who exposes vandalism or destroying monuments. For such an offence, said the American leader, is punished with imprisonment up to 10 years.
“It will take effect immediately, but can also be used retroactively for the destruction or vandalism that have already occurred. No exceptions will be made!”, — wrote the American leader.
Previously, trump said that several people were detained for vandalism in Lafayette Park in Washington, and the desecration of a Church of St. John.
The President urged the authorities of new York to waive the decision to demolish the monument to the 26th Chapter of the United States Theodore Roosevelt. The statue is considered a symbol of colonialism and racial discrimination.
Protests against racism in American cities in recent weeks are increasingly leading to the desecration and destruction of monuments. Demolished not only the monuments to the leaders of the Confederation, but, for example, a monument discovered America, the Explorer Christopher Columbus, the first President and one of the founders of the United States George Washington, as well as the author of the national anthem Francis Scott Key.
