The Director of the Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI) Christopher ray said that domestic extremism is a major threat to the security of the country. About it reports TASS.
According to the head of the Bureau, homegrown violent extremists who are radicalized on the Internet are the greatest terrorist threat in the territory of the United States.
Ray said that the extremists usually act alone, do not adhere to a particular ideology and not spend a lot of time to prepare for a terrorist act. They choose to attack the most vulnerable places, such as schools and shopping centres, and use weapons that are not hard to get. The combination of these factors greatly complicates the prevention of such crimes.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald trump called domestic terrorism has engulfed the US riots. According to trump, the participants and the organizers will get lengthy prison sentences. The us leader said that he fully supports peaceful protest and called himself “an ally of peaceful demonstrators”.
Protests accompanied by rioting, vandalism and attacks on police, swept dozens of US cities. The occasion was the death of a black security guard George Floyd in Minneapolis (Minnesota), who died after a rough arrest. During the clashes, gunshot wounds were got by two police officers, one of whom died. American officials said that any clashes with the police or threats to law enforcement will be regarded as acts of domestic terrorism.
