The Prosecutor’s office of Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Department of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, located in Kiev) seized 18 vessels calling at the ports of the Crimea. On Thursday, June 25, reports “Crimea.Realities”.
The Ministry said that the entry under foreign flags at closed seaports undermines the sovereignty and laws of Ukraine. “It entails the criminal liability of shipowners, operators and captains of ships”, – noted in Prosecutor’s office.
The decision applies to ships that go under the flag of Russia, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon.
“The Prosecutor’s office of autonomy plans to ask the Ukrbyuro Interpol to make such ships in the database search and direct requests to foreign countries on international legal assistance in order to perform arrests,” — said in a Supervisory Agency.
Crimea became part of Russia in March 2014 after held on the Peninsula referendum in which the majority of local residents supported this decision. Ukraine considers Crimea occupied.
