Senator from Crimea Sergey Tsekov responded to the words of the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko about the unique chance for Kiev to return the Crimea, calling it relevant to the question amateurish. On Friday, June 26, RIA Novosti reported.
“Unfortunately, they (the Ukrainian policy “Tape.ru”) did not understand why Crimea returned to their historical Motherland — Russia,” — said Tsekov, noting that Kiev Peninsula was the only territory for profit, but for Russia it is a part of the local sacred and historic lands.
A member of the Federation Council also added that regardless of the situation in the world and in the economic situation of Russia and the Crimea will always be supported. “Let the Ukrainian politicians hope. Under any circumstances they will not be able to return back to the Crimea”, — said the MP.
Earlier, Poroshenko stated that Kiev has had “a unique chance” to return to Crimea, because, according to policy, in response to falling oil prices and “deep crisis” in Russia, international solidarity can be bolstered as a result of “forcing Moscow to withdraw from Crimea,” which it allegedly is not able to Fund.
Crimea became part of Russia in 2014 after held on the Peninsula the referendum. Ukraine considers the territory annexed and accuses Moscow of violating international law. Russian authorities deny these accusations.
