Congressmen of the house of representatives of the United States Congress has proposed for consideration a bill containing the softened sanctions against participants in the construction of the pipeline “Nord stream-2”, reported on the website of the legislator Adam Kinzinger.
A new bill on sanctions will be considered in parallel with what was previously prepared in the Senate, the upper house of the American Parliament. It will work as clarification, correcting a number of strict measures against construction companies — final act, additional sanctions will likely be softer than his first version.
In particular, in the lower house do not propose to impose sanctions against companies engaged in the inspection, testing and certification of pipeline, as well as to cancel their planned entry into force retroactively. According to the plans of the Senate, upon the adoption of limitations should begin to operate from December 2019.
Republican senators who in early June submitted a draft of additional sanctions for consideration, stated that “Nord stream-2” — a threat to American national security. Because of the harm that actions can cause in the US the German economy, Germany has threatened the American side with retaliatory sanctions.
The gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” from Russia to Germany under the Baltic sea was supposed to start in late 2019. The project launch date was postponed to the turn of the 2020-2021 years, first because of the position of Denmark, which did not coordinate the route of the project through their water, and then because of US sanctions against companies involved in the project.
