Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the conviction of the Director Kirill Serebrennikov, noting that the Kremlin will not assess the penalty. On Friday, June 26, RIA Novosti reported.
A Kremlin spokesman added that the case Serebrennikov was the reason careful consideration to how public funds are spent in cultural institutions.
Earlier on June 26, it was reported that the theatre and film Director, artistic Director of the theater “Gogol-center” Kirill Serebrennikov was found guilty in a criminal case of embezzlement of budget funds allocated for implementation of the project “Platform”. According to the investigation, from 2011 to 2014, the leadership of the organization, “the Seventh Studio” assigned 133 of 214 million rubles allocated from the state budget on the project “Platform”.
Searches and arrests in the case, “the Seventh Studio” began in may of 2017. Initially, the pieces of silver took on the case as a witness, but in August of the same year he was detained and placed under house arrest after he arrested the accountant, “the Seventh Studio” Nina Maslyaeva called him the organizer of the fraudulent scheme. In April 2019, the Director was released on his own recognizance.
