US authorities plan to allow oil production in the National petroleum reserve in Alaska (National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska, NPR-A), which will increase the volume of recoverable raw materials. This is stated in the message on the website of the interior Ministry, which is in charge comes with a management of the American land.
The Agency plans to allow mining on approximately 82 percent of the lands included in the reserve. The total area of the National petroleum reserve is 95.5 thousand square kilometers, equivalent to the total area of the Kemerovo region in Russia.
According to American authorities, on the territory of the NPR-A is 8.7 billion barrels of undiscovered oil and more than 700 billion cubic meters of gas. Permission to extract raw materials on the lands of the reserve will allow to increase production of fuel in the United States about 500 thousand barrels per day for 20 years.
The initiative is a step in the fulfillment of guidelines of the American President Donald trump to increase production of American energy resources and strengthen energy security of the country.
