Chief editor of radio station “Echo of Moscow” Alexei Venediktov said he believes the theater Director Kirill Serebrennikov is innocent of charges of embezzlement of budget funds allocated for implementation of the project “Platform” and that a culture worker should be acquitted. About this journalist said in the Telegram channel.
“Obviously, pieces of silver and the other defendants in the “case, “the Seventh Studio” innocent and needs to be justified”, — he noted. According to Venediktova, each of the defendants in the case should be an apology on behalf of the state for unreasonable criminal prosecution.
The case of the “Seventh Studio” started with a search and arrest operations in may 2017. Initially pieces of silver was a witness, but was later arrested and placed under house arrest. This occurred after the accountant, “the Seventh Studio” Nina Maslyaeva called him the organizer of the fraudulent scheme. In April 2019, the measure of restraint was changed to house arrest.
According to the investigation, from 2011 to 2014, the leadership of the organization, “the Seventh Studio” assigned 133 of 214 million rubles allocated from the state budget for a pilot project “Platform”. Financing is conducted by the Ministry of culture of Russia.
The defendants in the case besides the artistic Director of the theater “Gogol-center” are Serebrennikov former Director of “Gogol-center”, a former General producer of the “Platform” Alex Malopolski, former CEO of the company “the Seventh Studio” Yuri Itin and a former employee of Russia Ministry of culture Sofia Apfelbaum. They all pleaded guilty in court. The verdict Serebrennikov was found guilty of embezzlement of budget funds.
