The publication notes that Moscow does not trust the Supreme commander of the Libyan national army of the Caliph Haftarot, considering him a “CIA agent” and a common interest between Moscow and Ankara in the conflict due to opposition to construction of the East-Mediterranean pipeline, which are interested in Israel, Greece and Cyprus.
“Diversification of gas supplies to Europe in the framework of the EastMed project does not meet the interests of Russia, because it encourages Moscow to rapprochement with Ankara. Such a scenario would give Russia the opportunity to become the chief mediator in the conflict between Turkey and Cyprus, as well as participate in the development of local fields”, — stated in the article.
In June the Russian Embassy in Syria announced the delivery of MiG-29 fighters to Syria.
In may, military expert Yury Lyamin in an interview with “Moskovsky Komsomolets” called the three versions of the MiG-29 in Libya. The first is that fighters are indeed Russian, but in Libya the planes arrived from the air base Hamim in Syria. In the second version, the MiG-29 are Egyptian, and was sent to Libya for operations against Turkey. “And the third option is that these aircraft were purchased from the reserves of any country, the United Arab Emirates and then transferred to the Haftarot,” — said the expert.
