President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called the Republic the only ally of Russia in the current geopolitical situation. He said this during the meeting with representatives of the Minsk region on Friday, the story of the event was broadcast on air of TV channel “Belarus-1”.
“The only ally that remained in Russia, — Belarus”, —he said.
Lukashenka also added that Republic is the second-largest buyer of gas from Russia “after the Germans”. “We recycle a huge amount of their oil. Of course, they do not want to lose Belarus and economically, but especially politically. Because, having lost Belarus, will be a heavy blow to the domestic politics of Russia”, — he said.
In Belarus on 9 August presidential election. Lukashenko, who intends to run for a sixth term, said that the country wants to organize a revolution. On 25 June he complained of foreign interference in the election campaign. According to him, the Russian Telegram-channels distribute a “terrible fake” to discredit the Belarusian authorities. He promised to discuss the situation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
