Sanctions pressure from the United States will not be able to stop the construction of the pipeline “Nord stream-2”, said in the pages of Forbes magazine columnist Kenneth Raposa.
According to him, the new sanctions are against the project, will be a new round of energy wars between Russia and the United States. While Raposa stressed that the U.S. laws against the construction of the gas pipeline “enthusiastically” took power in Ukraine. The columnist said that “Naftogaz of Ukraine” sees a serious problem in the pipeline, which bypasses the country.
Raposa believes that Washington will take the proposed bill, however, the new sanctions will be meaningless.
Previously, Republican senators who in early June submitted a draft of additional sanctions for consideration, said that “Nord stream-2” — a threat to American national security. Because of the harm that actions can cause in the US the German economy, Germany has threatened the American side with retaliatory sanctions.
The gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” from Russia to Germany under the Baltic sea was supposed to start in late 2019. The project launch date was postponed to the turn of the 2020-2021 years, first because of the position of Denmark, which did not coordinate the route of the project through their water, and then because of US sanctions against companies involved in the project.
