China unveiled its answer to the US sanctions Hong Kong

China has revealed its response to US sanctions because of the situation with a resonant law on safety in Hong Kong. It is reported TASS with reference to the representative of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of China Zhao Lijiang.

Beijing decided to impose visa restrictions against U.S. officials who had taken “improper action” from Hong Kong. Of the individual targeted by the sanctions were not disclosed.

On 26 June it became known that the United States imposes new anti-Chinese sanctions because of the encroachment of Beijing on the autonomy of Hong Kong. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo announced that the us government introduces the “visa restrictions for former and current members of CPC who are considered responsible for or involved in the demolition of the autonomy of Hong Kong.”

Previously, the national people’s Congress the national people’s Congress (NPC) decided to adopt a resolution on the development of national security law in Hong Kong. According to the document, the resonant draft law will be developed by the standing Committee of the national people’s Congress without the participation of the Parliament of Hong Kong and included in its fundamental law. Presumably, the law will take until the end of June.

Through the law, China will strengthen control over the region. The act includes a strict ban on separatist activities and the requirement to report regularly to the Central government of the PRC. Supporters of the bill claim that it will protect the Chinese state from terrorism and foreign interventions, to strengthen national security.

Britain, which until 1997 ran the Hong Kong and urged China to respect the autonomy of the region, and the United States called the bill disastrous decision.

Hong Kong returned to China in 1997. According to the joint Declaration of China and Britain, the city was promised broad autonomy for 50 years. Due to this status in Hong Kong enjoyed a special relationship with the United States.
