For the first four days of voting on amendments to the Constitution of the majority of citizens supported the changes. These preliminary results revealed the all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM).
According to exit polls, every fourth Russian voted against the amendment of the Basic law (23.6%). Still 0.4 percent of the respondents admitted that spoiled the ballot. All the rest called for amendments (76 percent).
In the period from 25 to 28 June, the sociologists interviewed 163 124 people in 800 polling stations in 25 regions.
Nationwide voting runs from 25 June to 1 July inclusive. The last of these days will be for the Russians off. Citizens will have to answer “Yes” or “no” to the question whether they approve the amendments to the Constitution. Residents of Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod region can vote online.
Among the proposed amendments is the right of the incumbent President of Russia to be re-elected for a new term, the priority of Russian laws over international. All the proposals approved by the constitutional court, the state Duma, the Federation Council and regional parliaments.
