She stressed that currently, bats have become the cause of six outbreaks of coronavirus, including pandemic COVID-19.

Scientist were able to detect about 1.5 thousand different types of coronavirus in bats organisms. In the course of the study, which was published in may, the analysis of 15 thousand samples of saliva, blood and animal waste, 10 percent had found a whole “universe of coronaviruses,” which was subsequently frozen for storage at the Institute.

As of 30 June, the total number of people infected with coronavirus in the world has exceeded 10.2 million people. The pandemic has covered 188 countries. For the entire period of the pandemic died 504 936 infected, 5.2 million people recover.
