The Central election Commission (CEC) of Belarus has named the candidates collected enough signatures for nomination for the presidential election. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
Among them are incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko, detained on the case of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko, former member of Parliament Anna Konopacka, Sergey Caraceni, Andrey Dmitriev and the wife of detained blogger Sergei Tikhanovski Svetlana.
Valery Tsepkalo was unable to collect sufficient number of signatures for his nomination.
Presidential elections in Belarus scheduled for 9 August. The two rivals of the incumbent, the blogger Sergei tikhanovski and former head of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko, was arrested, sparking protests. Later the interior Ministry launched a preliminary examination in relation to Valery Tsepkalo after the application of a Turkish citizen about the “illegal activities” of the party in the presidential race. Lukashenka claimed that the Belarusian special services managed to prevent the independence and at stake is the independence of the Republic.
