Mevlüt Of Cavusoglu: Dmitry Azarov / Kommersant
NATO calls Russia’s presence in Libya as a threat, while France, a member of the Alliance, “plays into the hands” of Russia in North Africa. This was stated by the foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu, reports Anadolu Agency.
However, he noted that Moscow and Ankara seek to stop the bloodshed in the conflict zone in Libya, and France tacitly supported armed forces field Marshal Khalifa the Haftarot.
Cavusoglu believes that France’s actions in Libya are devastating. He stressed that Ankara, on the contrary, from the very beginning tried to help to ensure stability in the country.
Earlier, foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that the only way to resolve the conflict in Libya to immediately cease fire and resolve issues through the negotiation process. He also insisted on opposing the Libyan national army (LNA) and the national consensus government (NTC) immediately cease fire.
In 2011 in Libya began a civil war, was overthrown and killed Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, who ruled the country since 1969. Now the country is experiencing a situation of dual power: on the East the seat of the Parliament, headed by field Marshal Khalifa the Haftarot, in the West, in Tripoli — the national consensus government. On the side of the LNA are Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and its informal allies called France and the UAE.
