Russia and Belarus may resume work on the harmonization of the integration roadmaps in the framework of the Union state this year. So the probability of returning to the process appreciated the Russian Ambassador in Minsk Dmitry Mezentsev, reports TASS.
Mezentsev said that the matter may be submitted for the next meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union state, which “held definitely in this year.” It is important that in the framework of the agenda of the meeting were taken into account the requests of both parties for readiness for the resumption of the integration work and program of action for implementing the Union Treaty, the Ambassador said.
According to Mezentsev, the Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko spoke about the readiness of Minsk to resume work, the results of which failed to agree on 27 of roadmaps and initial programme of action of the Union construction. Mezentsev noted that economic integration does not threaten neither the independence or sovereignty of both countries.
On March 5, Belarus has suspended the work on the roadmaps for the integration with Russia over the unresolved issue of oil supplies. They planned to sign the 20th anniversary of the Treaty on establishing the Union state, signed in 1999.
April 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s congratulatory message on the occasion of the Day of unity of peoples of Russia and Belarus wrote to his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, the parties will be able to find optimal solutions to integration issues. In his congratulatory message said that he expects the integration of mutually acceptable solutions “in the true spirit of the Alliance”.
