The vote on the amendments to the Constitution see more than 526 thousand citizens, including those submitted by opposition organizations, said the Chairman of the Central election Commission (CEC), Ella Pamfilova. It quoted the Russian Agency of legal and judicial information (RAPSI) on Wednesday, July 1.
“They all work, and I hope that they will work on one common cause — ensuring the rights of our voters,” — said Pamfilova.
According to her, all observers, regardless of affiliation of the organization have equal rights. She pointed to the inadmissibility of discrimination against any groups of observers.
A nationwide vote began on 25 June, however, the main day of voting was announced on 1 July. President Vladimir Putin, who proposed to amend the basic law, has already voted at the polling station in Moscow. He urged citizens to take part in the vote and assured that without the approval of the amendments will not be made.
Among the suggested 400 amendments — the right of the incumbent President be re-elected for a new term, the priority of Russian laws over international.
