40-year-old renovated “Moscow” for decades will protect Crimea

Located in Crimea, 40-year-old rocket cruiser “Moscow” project 1164 “Atlas” repaired, told RIA Novosti in the 13th shipyard black sea fleet (BSF) of Russia.

“The ship will last after the repair more than a dozen years. The cruiser was a large-scale work on repair and modernization,” said the company.

There’s also noted that the cruiser “will be released from the dock with a rebuild of the engine, replacement of diesel generators and systems RTS [radio system]. In addition, the cruiser replaced hundreds of meters of the cable runs”.

In April, a military expert Dmitry Boltenkov called “Moscow” the most powerful ship of the Russian black sea fleet. According to him, the cruiser “will last a few years.”

This ship is the flagship of the black sea fleet, commissioned in December 1982. Recent renovation work on the cruiser began in 2018. Displacement of the ship is 11 500 tons, length — 186 m, speed — 32 knots, endurance — 30 days crew — 500 people. The ship is equipped with 16 launchers cruise missiles P-800 “Onyx”, the artillery system AK-130 and torpedo armament. A helicopter Ka-27.
