Turkey and Russia decided to negotiate peace in Libya. On the progress of the work on the establishment of a cease-fire in this country, said Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, reports RIA Novosti.

“This can be done only one way — immediately to cease hostilities and to stop trying, and the one and the other side to promote its own armed forces,” — said the head of the Russian foreign Ministry. He added that the Libyan national army (LNA) field Marshal Khalifa the Haftarot are ready to sign the document on ceasefire, while the government of the national consensus government (NTC) refuse to do it. Lavrov noted the participation in the dialogue of Turkey, which is working with the NTC.

Earlier it was reported that the air base of al-Vatiya in North-West Libya were attacked by a modern military aircraft that are not in the Arsenal at the head of the LNA field Marshal Khalifa the Haftarot and his supporters. On this basis, the Libyan government blamed an unnamed foreign country in the attack.

Before the Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu called the Haftarot pirate-coup and said the refusal to support the Cairo Declaration of the armistice. Its terms included a ceasefire in all areas of the country, equal representation of all parts of the country in political offices — Tripolitania, the Fezzan and Cyrenaica (LNA and PNS control different parts of Libya), and the adoption of the constitutional Declaration.

In 2011 Libya civil war broke out, during which he was overthrown and killed Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, who ruled the country since 1969. Currently in Libya there is a situation of dual power: on the East in the city of Tobruk, seat of the Parliament, headed by field Marshal Khalifa the Haftarot, in the West in Tripoli — the national consensus government. While the NTC has actively supported Turkey, and on the side of the LNA are Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Its informal allies are France and the UAE.
